Disable CPU and memory notification during backups

CPU and Memory will generate alerts after being in a failed state for 30 minutes. This delay can be too short, and results in unwanted notifications when making backups. You can create two user accounts to help minimize the volume of notifications: one configured for the hours when the backup takes place that you assign CPU and Memory notifications triggered after a two hour delay, and the other configured for regular hours, that you assign CPU and Memory notifications triggered after a 30 minute delay.

This example assumes you are making daily backups between 11 o'clock and midnight.

Set up user accounts and notification schedules

  1. Click Administration > User Management > Users.
  2. Click Create User and add a user called "CPU and Memory Notifications - During Backups".
  3. When creating a new user, you need to assign it a role and access group to use the account. For more information see What is role-based permissions.

Although you need to supply a unique email address for each user account you create, you can receive all notifications at the same email address.

  4. Click User DetailsNotification Method.
  5. Set the Schedule Type to Daily Interval and enter the Start Time and End Time for the backups. In this example, "23:00" and "01:00".
  6. Click Save.
  7. Create a second user account, called "CPU and Memory Notifications - Regular Hours".
  8. On the Notification Methods tab, set the Schedule Type to Daily Interval and enter the regular Start Time and End Time. This time, "00:00" and "23:00"
  9. Click Save.
